The Q’ero Masters of the Living Light
The Q’ero paq’os in Peru are the inheritors of a timeless mission: to teach a new relationship with the energies of the universe. The Q’ero Indians, known as the “guardians of ancient knowledge”, are the most respected mystics of the South Central Andes. The Q’ero are known to have preserved the spiritual tradition of the Incas more purely than any other indigenous people in the Andes.
When people talk about the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru, they talk about healing. It stretches to the right and left of Cusco in a series of small, extraordinarily fertile valleys, which explain the presence of buildings from the Inca Empire, which ended with the arrival of the Spanish in the 16th century. This is also the natural route to Machu Picchu.
The Q’ero Cosmovision is – to change the world.
Who are the Q’ero?
200 km from Cusco, in the province of Paucartambo, live the Q’ero people, who have been declared a Peruvian cultural heritage since 2007. They are a group of around 2,500 people who live in five communities at an altitude of between 2,500 and 5,000 meters above sea level and remained isolated from the 16th to the middle of the 20th century, with a way of living and thinking that is typical of the Inca period.
It was only in 1949, after the earthquake that shook the area and uncovered important Inca buildings, that the anthropologist Oscar Nuñez del Prado met two natives who spoke only Quechua.
But it was not until 1959, on the feast of the Pleiades and in front of a large crowd of pilgrims, that the presence of a surprising and majestic entourage of Q’ero, dressed in the Inca solar emblem, spontaneously led the people to the summit of the mountain. There they announced that the time of the prophecy was near.
This drew attention to the Andean prophecy of Pachacuti, the great cosmic change in which the world would be turned upside down amidst catastrophes to allow a return to harmony and order, and many ears were opened to the message that the Q’ero had had to pass on for 500 years.

The Q’ero Message
While the message of the Q’ero is based on the reintegration of the peoples of the four corners of the world, in preparation for “the day when the Eagle of the North and the Condor of the South (the Americas) fly together”, the essence of this process lies in the idea that we are in the time of the Mastay, the time of the great gathering and reintegration of the peoples of the four corners of the world.
The essence of this process lies in respecting the cosmic life energy that animates the cosmos and with which, like Pachamama, we must maintain a harmonious relationship in order to live a good life, which is what it should be.
It is time to build a new relationship with the energies of the universe. This is a process of inner, individual healing that will eventually lead to a general shift in consciousness. It is their job to heal people and pass on their knowledge.
In recent years, we have experienced crazy healings in the various groups. Especially the year 22012 knew strong healings, because so many Q’ero pacqua’s were with us. It was also a special year (after our trip through Peru and Bolivia we traveled with almost the whole group to Mexico for the Mayan ceremonies on December 21st).
It is enough to attend a Q’ero ceremony to experience the quiet surrender of the spiritual seeker in the process of self-knowledge and inner healing on the one hand and to discover whether you want to take the secrets of the rituals with you to share them at home on the other.
A collective shift is underway, an awakening of consciousness that will take place step by step, in an individual work of learning, self-knowledge through teachers and rituals, respect and devotion to nature, all leading to the long awaited golden age in which we will live in harmony with everything.

About this book
An intimate insight into the world of ancient Peruvian spiritual practice and cosmology
– Reveals the secrets of the world of living energy (kawsay pacha) through intensive and in-depth interviews with six Q’ero mystics
– Explores the energies, spirits, tools and practices of Andean mysticism – the true story behind the fictional accounts in The Prophecy of Celestine.
The Q’ero Indians of Peru, known as the “Keepers of Ancient Knowledge,” are arguably the most respected mystics of the south-central Andes. In 1996, Joan Parisi Wilcox traveled to the Andes and was able to record the secrets of the kawsay pacha, the multidimensional world of life energy, in more than 40 hours of intensive interviews with six Q’ero paqos, masters of Peru’s ancient spiritual traditions.
The Q’ero are known to have preserved the spiritual tradition of the Incas more purely than any other indigenous people in the Andes. The in-depth interviews presented in this book reflect the direct words of these masters, allowing readers to discover for themselves the spirit and heart space of these people.Four new chapters in this revised edition focus on the work of the mesa, the Andean form of a spiritual medicine bundle, and its use as a channel for the healing energies of nature. The mesa is called the “fire of the heart” because it represents the subtlest energy – the energy of compassion – that a paqo cultivates while walking the sacred path. Wilcox gives instructions on how to make, activate and work with a mesa, as well as other practical exercises that show how we can harness the power of the Andean spiritual tradition in our own lives.
